Dr Ian Strawford MB ChB DCH MRCGP

I qualified in Medicine in 1985 from Birmingham Medical School and after initially training in surgery in London and Southampton, I changed careers and opted to become a General Practitioner. After meeting my wife, Karen, and travelling extensively in Asia and working in New Zealand, I became a partner at The Glastonbury Surgery in 1993. I am currently a GP trainer at the practice and managing director of The Glastonbury Pharmacy, which is our own independent pharmacy, attached to the surgery.

I have always been very interested in complimentary therapies and have received training in acupuncture which I regularly use in my NHS practice.

I have been performing minor surgical operations at my practice for the last 15 years and I have received extensive training in a range of advanced non-surgical cosmetic treatments under the guidance of the plastic surgeons and other medical specialists at The Aesthetox Academy in Birmingham. I have also received advanced training with Q-Med, in London, on the whole range of their Restylane® products.

I take great pride in my work, and enjoy working with people. As a general practitioner I have been able to see how the benefits of a healthy lifestyle can improve your well being, and as a cosmetic physician I have been able to see how the benefits of these rejuvenating treatments can improve self confidence and self worth.

We know that we can not turn the body clock back in time, but we can definitely lessen the visible effects of ageing with the modern and life changing facial rejuvenation treatments available today.

I am an associate member of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors

The aim of the association is the advancement of safe and ethical cosmetic medicine, to the benefit of doctors and members of the public. At present the non-surgical cosmetic industry is totally unregulated and the association is striving to create a self-regulatory body for doctors in the cosmetic industry to strive for excellence and maintain standards for the public.
