Tear trough under eye treatments

With facial ageing there is a loss of volume beneath the eye due to a loss of fat beneath the skin, this results in sagging of the skin and the all too common under eye ‘bags’. Previously these could only be corrected by more invasive operations such as fat transfer and blepharoplasty.
Dramatic results can be achieved in a safe non surgical manner by injecting RestylaneTM within the tear trough beneath the eye. This is often a very difficult area to treat and usually only performed by eye and cosmetic surgeons. I have been fortunate to receive advanced training under the guidance of Tristan Reuser, a specialist ophthalmic plastic surgeon , and pioneer of this technique in the UK.
The treatment takes between 45 and 60 mins and is usually performed after application of local anesthetic gels applied to the skin.
As this is a highly vascular area to treat, short term bruising and swelling is more common than when treating other areas of the face.
The benefits are seen instantly and the effects will last between 6 and 12 months.
